About my experience

A Social Work undergraduate (BSW) from Madras School of Social Work (2016-2019). I finished my BSW

program with 74.6% of score. Throughout my BSW program I have been a part of many NGOs and also, I have attended some Training of Trainers programs. The BSW program has been a great platform for me to improve various skills. Going to my experience with organizations.

In my 1st year of BSW (2016), I worked in Myrtle Social Welfare Network. I was working for 3 months as a volunteer and helping them in raising fund and doing Puppet show for children based on Child Abuse. In the end of 1st year (2017), I worked as an Intern (Counter Part) in International Alliance for Prevention of AIDS (IAPA) along with Interns from Arizona. I have conducted awareness sessions on HIV / AIDS at schools and colleges, where I had to handle a class of 40-50 students. This was a 2 months project.

During 2nd year (2017), I worked in Dignity Foundation as part of my Field Work along with my class. I worked there as the team leader of Promotion team and also contributed more for organizing a medical camp for elders. I took over the full process of promotion along with my team. At the end of 2nd year 2018), I worked with an NGO called RBP Foundation, which is a start-up NGO working for children, women welfare and tribal community development. My role at the organization was to co-ordinate the projects carried by them. As a part of this internship I have organized a few sensitizing programs for school going children based on important social days. During the program, I have sensitized the students about the importance of social days and conducted competitions.

In 3rd year (2018-19), I worked as an intern in HelpAge India, Chennai; where I was placed for Concurrent Field Work. I had to co-ordinate with the Mobile Medical Unit, which supplies medicine to the elders of a lower economic background and also been a part of rescuing the destitute along with the rescue vehicle. Also, I organized Community Program for school children about issues faced by elders. During my summer vacation (2019), I worked as Group Leader in a camp organized by Y.R.Gaitonde Centre for AIDS Research and Education (YRG Care) called CAMP RAINBOW. It is a residential camp where I had to stay for 17 days and act as a group leader for 8-12 children living with HIV. The motive of the camp is to teach the children about Love, Respect and Safety in a practical way and also provide them a memorable life experience. This is also considered as a therapy for the children.

During my Undergraduate days, I have worked with many people and organizations. Except my internships at Dignity Foundation and HelpAge India which was part of my curriculum, the remaining internships were done on my own interest in order to learn and explore more in Social Work Stream.
